I’m very excited to bring you a new series on the blog! The “Inspirational Working Moms” Series. I have the privilege of meeting and working with so many wonderful and talented ladies – all recently taking on the motherhood hat too. I chat to them on how they play career-mom. First up, Audrey Both of Papillon Belle.

Tell us a little bit about what you do / how you got there?

I’m a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. I also started my jewellery business Papillon Belle in 2011.

What does your working day entail?

Juggling many balls at the same time. I work from home, so I’m able to breastfeed and work in between. I’m very lucky to have a full time nanny. She’s my right hand woman during the day so I can get it all done!

The best part about being a mom?

Morning chats with my newborn. He started smiling for the first time 2 weeks ago

How did / do you survive TIRED!

Sometimes I don’t…it’s a huge adjustment! It’s amazing what an hour nap can do if you haven’t slept more than 2 hours at a time in 3 months!

The best parental advice you’ve received?

Join an antenatal group before you have your baby. You will need the support of other Moms and only people who are in the same position as you really understand what you are going through.

What inspires you?

Clever ideas and beautiful things

What has surprised you about being a mom?

How instinctual it all is. I often get a sense of deja vu..like i’ve done this all before. I can only subscribe this to deep evolutionary instincts.

You Best Mom Tip/s?

Follow your instincts. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the information available to new parents, but if you listen to your baby, you’ll know what to do!

Great advice! Thanks Audrey for sharing your new venture with us! What a cutie! (All pictures by Audrey and are her illustrations)
